Back when cards from the Stargate TCG were revealed for the very first time, Daniel Jackson was the first one spoiled. It therefore seems fitting that your first look at System Lords shows what the good doctor will be "up to" in this set:

A small play on words there, since this new version of Daniel Jackson depicts him during his time as an Ascended Being. As such, he's switched from an SGC character to an Ancient. And since he no longer worked with SG-1 on a regular basis, he's become a support character instead of a team character.

Using this version of Daniel means you won't be able to put any version of him on your starting team, but this card can be well worth that trade. During the mission you play him, all your assigned team characters get a +1 boost to all their skills. That's potentially as much as +4 to your efforts to complete any mission -- not just the Culture missions where Daniel himself can contribute a skill of his own.

Players looking for combo potential will find a few choice options in other System Lords cards, including the Excavate Ancient Artifacts mission (to make playing Daniel easier), and Sodan Cloaking Device (because that text is just too tasty to only use once). SG-1 offers some fun options too, such as Pursue the Harcesis (never before have you been able to pump Daniel's Culture so high with this mission!).
