As the title System Lords implies, Stargate TCG's second set has a lot of cards devoted to the Goa'uld (as well as their primary warriors, the Jaffa). The villain player will have a number of new weapons in his arsenal, using different gameplay and strategies. Your first look at these is: Anubis, Powerful Nemesis.

This version of Anubis showcases an interesting new style of adversary card, one you'll want to score even if you aren't trying to achieve a victory as the villain player. And while this is one of the set's six ultra-rare cards (distributed one full set to each box of booster packs, as was the case with SG-1), this new game mechanic is not exclusive to the ultra-rares.
With Anubis in your score pile, all the rest of your Goa'uld -- and/or Jaffa -- centered deck gathers steam, with each of your adversaries becoming tougher to overcome. The fact this ability is on Anubis, with his familiar skills of Culture and Science, is particularly valuable -- most of the time, when a hero player chooses to "skip" missions of one particular skill, he's skipping one of those two. Anubis can easily slip into one of those uncontested situations for an easy score, and that juicy ongoing benefit.
One catch to be considered is that with the skill boost Anubis provides comes an increase to your adversaries' revive costs. You'll probably want to have a slightly larger-than-normal deck to be paying those costs, yet that also means it will be harder to draw Anubis to play him in the first place. So you might want to think about including ways to "stack the deck" in your favor. Fortunately, System Lords offers several options for this, among them Charlie and Possible Fate. Or perhaps you'll think about using Thoth, in case Anubis ends up in your discard pile after paying some other adversary's revive cost early on in the game.
