by Evan "Heimlich" Lorentz, Game Designer

This event holds an interesting distinction in the history of Stargate TCG -- it's quite possibly the very first card ever designed for the game.
Several different basic rules sets were mocked up and tested prior to the version that ultimately became the finished game, most of which were not so thoroughly documented in the designers' "historical archives." But the demo decks built for the first test of the "modern rules set" are still around, and a quick glance through them shows that very few of the mockups ended up having game functions similar to the end product. There were a handful of cards in the original demo decks with the game text that ultimately ended up on various missions, obstacles, and characters, but none of those were actually matched up with their final skills and subject matter from the television series.
The only card that looked just like its final incarnation was an event called "Experienced Travelers," which survived to print with only two changes. First, the title change came after the term "experience" was given to victory points. Since the game text referred to "glyphs" and not those victory points, the title was changed for clarity. But even before this change, the cost was raised from the 1 power it carried in that very first demo version. It didn't take long to figure out that was too great a bargain.
